Jowell Y Randy Another Reggaeton Dual

So I recently got a copy of the yet to be released Jowell Y Randy’s “Los Mas Sueltos del Reggaeton”. If you don’t recognize their name at first glance you may have heard their hits with such groups as Casa de Leones. Overall the album is just alright, mostly because there are too many average songs. Reggaeton is dance/club style music and I would expect an album to reflect that. However, a couple of non-typical Reggaeton songs on the album stand out.

Lets Do It has this bad ass discotec feel and Un Poco Loca is reminiscent of traditional Spanish Reggae-the beat and synths almost remind you of El General. They also have a Spanish RnB song, Que Te Vaya Bien “Remix”.

Its impressive that these young guys can write their own music, but don’t expect deep and creative lyrics like something you will get from my favorite dual, Calle 13.

Many of the songs have appeared under the Casa de Leones album so if you already own it you may be reluctant to make this purchase. Of course they may be different versions than the ones that appear on this latest album. And my favorite song on the album is No Te Veo, which originally appears under Casa de Leones. I also really enjoy Lets Do It and can see that being a hit on the radio. I’d love to hear both songs at the club or just some random house party.

A bit off the subject, but I think these guys should change up their look. I’m just tired of seeing all these Reggaeton singers sporting the usual “bling bling” look. I do give them points for wearing suits on the album cover and more notably a suit with an ascot! Thats stylish.

So to recap:
Save your money for Christmas and Download Illegally Lets Do It, Un Poco Loca, and No Te Veo if you don’t have it already. The album comes out Dec 18th (or the 20th) depending on who you ask.

Actually, since the weather warmed up, I listen to that Jowell y Randy CD religiously. Mostly after getting off of work. They have some jams that really grow on you.
